Description of WorkPerforms all duties related to advising undergraduate students through their program(s) of study. Maintains degree audit files. Position serves as liaison with College of Education & Human Services and University committees and between faculty and students. Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, human science, human relations, liberal arts, communication, psychology, or other field in which human interaction is an integral focus.
  • Two years of demonstrated experience working with students in 1:1 or group advising settings. Master's degree may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Experience must demonstrate an ability to learn and stay current on complex academic requirements, policies and procedures, and software that support the functions of advising.
  • Must have demonstrated organizational, time management, and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations required to apply inclusive advising strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in education, counseling, human sciences, liberal arts or related field preferred.
  • Presentation skills including the development and dissemination of materials and workshops related to advising and recruitment desirable.
  • Prefer ability to communicate effectively with large groups and possess a general understanding of admissions, retention, and graduation requirements.
  • Experience working with advising software programs including, but not limited to, student information systems helpful.
  • Experience with College/university level students.
  • Experience providing with academic and/or social support for first generation, low-income, and/or minority college students.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances.
