Description of WorkAcademic advising is not just about course selection - it's about setting goals, being an advocate, and helping students get the most out of college.As an Academic Advisor, you will:
  • Provide high quality academic advice and counseling regarding coursework and professional career opportunities for students in the undergraduate biochemistry and forensic science degree programs.
  • Participate in activities to foster recruiting and retention of students in biochemistry, forensic science, and the college to include the preparation of a yearly report to track the graduates from these programs.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in science, education, or social science field plus experience in student development, advising, and/or recruitment.
  • Demonstrated experience advising diverse student backgrounds in order to apply inclusive advising strategies for all students.
  • Demonstrated advising using student information systems and technology platforms.
  • Ability to learn and stay current of complex academic requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral skills, writing skills, organization/time management skills, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years related experience working in an educational setting with students is preferred, but not required.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances. No
Criminal History Background Check Required Yes
