The Technical Services and Regulatory Compliance Specialist is responsible for developing ingredient statements, nutritional data, and regulatory information based on vendor inputs. This role maintains JBSS and customer technical information systems, manages product formulas and specifications, and ensures compliance with food labeling regulations.Key Responsibilities
- Develop and revise ingredient statements and nutritional information for branded and private label products to meet federal, state, customer, and company labeling requirements.
- Maintain the Product Vision nutritional database and ensure accurate ingredient data through communication with purchasing and vendors.
- Manage JBSS product specifications in QAD and customer-owned databases across all channels.
- Respond to customer questionnaires and maintain related databases and systems.
- Assist and train with the department manager in reviewing and approving label artwork.
- Develop processes to improve response times for internal and external technical information requests, including specifications and labeling data.
- Support customer and consumer inquiries regarding nutrition and labeling. Provide guidance on claims, allergen statements, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage interactions with external analytical laboratories.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of product formulas.
- Stay current on food labeling and compliance regulations from federal and state agencies.
- Provide technical expertise to support new product development initiatives.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in technical services-such as regulatory compliance, labeling, product specification development, or formula development-or in R&D within the food industry.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and team-building abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage technical projects effectively.
- High proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Product Vision is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate positively with internal teams, customers, and senior management.
