- Process timely and accurate weekly payroll, including salaries, hourly time entry, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Submit payroll-related transactions such as 401(k), child support, and other withholdings each pay period.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of all payroll transactions.
- Coordinate new hire processes including applications, drug testing, and physical screenings.
- Conduct background checks and verify employment eligibility for new hires.
- Prepare and facilitate new hire orientation and assist with safety training.
- Enter employment data in Paycor and Access Database (e.g., new hires, terminations, changes).
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive matters to the HR Manager.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and payroll laws and regulations.
- Follow HR best practices; regularly review policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory updates in HR and payroll.
- Conduct regular audits for payroll and employee data accuracy; make corrections as needed.
- Participate in safety meetings and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
- Support the HR Manager in implementing personnel policies and practices in line with legal and regulatory standards.
- Provide cross-functional support and backup coverage for administrative personnel as needed.
- 3+ years of full-cycle payroll experience required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- HR certification is a plus (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Highly organized with a strong aptitude for learning.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proven track record of consistent follow-through and communication.
- Exceptional customer service skills and a genuine desire to be part of a collaborative team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
