Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Accountant to join their team on a contractual or contract-to-hire basis. This role is expected to last 3 to 4 months, with the opportunity for direct hire at the end of the contract, contingent on performance and team fit. This is a hybrid position based in Tempe, AZ, offering flexibility while maintaining collaboration with the team.Key Responsibilities:Perform payroll account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completenessPrepare and book payroll journal entries in accordance with accounting standardsAssist with month-end and year-end close processes related to payroll accountsWork cross-functionally with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepanciesEnsure compliance with internal policies and relevant laws and regulationsSupport audit activities related to payroll accounting as neededQualifications:Proven experience performing payroll account reconciliations and journal entriesStrong understanding of payroll processes and accounting principlesProficiency in accounting software and ExcelHigh attention to detail and strong analytical skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
