This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service.Responsibilities of the Program Coordinator (Intake Specialist): Under the Investigations Unit Director and pursuant to Agency's investigative policy and procedures, employee performs intake functions regarding complaints which are submitted against Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Department of Public Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, Office of Mental Health, Department of Social Services, the Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe, School for the Deaf and Blind, and Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School in an effort to ensure that children under the care of a state agency, particularly, children served by the child welfare or juvenile justice systems, receive timely, safe and effective services and to safeguard the health, safety and well-being of all children receiving services.The Intake Specialist will receive telephone and electronic complaint submissions and communicate with the Investigations Unit Director regarding whether to refer cases to the appropriate agency or to refer to an Investigator to investigate the allegations. The Intake Specialist will maintain records regarding all complaints and will monitor complaints, referrals, and investigations. The Intake Specialist will be required to strictly adhere to state and federal laws regarding confidentiality and will frequently communicate with complainants and government office and agency staff.Under the direct supervision by the Investigations Unit Director, the employee will be responsible for accepting, referring, and monitoring complaints submitted by complainants regarding services provided by Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Department of Public Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, Office of Mental Health, Department of Social Services, the Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe, School for the Deaf and Blind, and Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School. Employee will be guided by the Agency's intake and investigative policy and procedure and must be capable of working independently and collaboratively with other people and agencies in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Answer phone and receive electronic complaints submitted by complainants regarding the delivery of services to children by Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Department of Public Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, Office of Mental Health, Department of Social Services, the Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe, School for the Deaf and Blind, and Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School.
  • Receive, review, refer and monitor complaints submitted to DCA regarding the delivery of services to children by Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Department of Public Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, Office of Mental Health, Department of Social Services ,the Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe, School for the Deaf and Blind, and Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement, quality assurance, data integrity, and annual accountability reporting regarding the Investigations Unit.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance the delivery of services by the Investigations Unit. Strictly adhere to agency policy and state and federal law regarding confidentiality and mandatory reporting. Engage in best practices regarding intakes and investigations.
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned including but not limited to administrative support tasks requested by the IU Director.
  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Must possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner regarding confidential and sensitive matters, identify relevant issues, manage time and tasks, document pertinent information in the Agency's database and maintain records.
  • The Intake Specialist will be responsible for avoiding a conflict of interest and must exhibit excellent customer service.
  • Position requires routine driver duties.
  • Position requires frequent stooping and/or bending.
  • Position requires non- essential declaration.
  • Position may be required to report to work during emergency situations.
  • This job will require travel throughout the state.
  • The applicant must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license and reliable vehicle and must be able to drive independently throughout the state.
  • Experience with investigations, intake, or data entry; Demonstrate knowledge of law and policy regarding Department of Social Services and Department of Juvenile Justice.
