This is a new position that will serve as a Team Lead, supervising CIU investigators. The Investigations Unit (IU) currently has a supervisor, and establishing a Supervisor in CIU will allow for alignment of supervisory structures across both units within the System Improvement Division. The addition of this role is needed due to increasing caseloads, the growing complexity of cases, and the need to staff cases effectively while collaborating closely with Assistant Child Advocates. This Supervisor position will ensure investigations are conducted efficiently and accurately, support staff in managing workloads, and strengthen the Division's ability to carry out DCA's mission of examining and improving the care and services provided to children. Under the direction of the Critical Investigations Unit Director and in accordance with the Agency's investigative policy and procedure, the Critical Investigations Unit Team Lead is responsible for managing and overseeing a team engaged in the intake, cataloging, monitoring, and investigation of Critical Incident Notifications (CINs) submitted by designated state agencies. This includes assigning and staffing cases with team members, providing investigative guidance, reviewing work for quality and compliance, and ensuring thorough documentation of investigative actions. The Team Lead serves as the first point of escalation for complex or sensitive cases within the team and works collaboratively with the CIU Unit Director and other agency staff to safeguard the health, safety, and well-being of children under state care.The CIU Investigations Supervisor will serve in a supervisory role over the CIU investigators. The CIU Supervisor will monitor complaints and investigations and ensure compliance with DCA's investigative policy and procedure. The CIU Investigations Supervisor must have requisite knowledge and experience in child welfare, investigations, and program support. The CIU Investigator Supervisor must have skills to professionally and effectively communicate with complainants, co-workers, agency staff, and external
partners. The CIU investigations Supervisor must possess the skills to identify relevant issues and trends, maintain records, and document pertinent information in the agency's database.Under the general supervision of the Critical Investigations Unit Director, the employee will be responsible for overseeing and directing team that accepts, catalogs, monitors, and investigates Critical Incident Notifications (CINs) submitted from the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, Department of Health and Environmental Control, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Mental Health, Department of Social Services, John de la Howe, School for the Deaf and the Blind, and Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School. The employee will staff cases with team members, assign investigative tasks, monitor progress, and review findings to ensure compliance with state laws and the Agency's intake and investigative policy and procedure. The employee must be capable of working independently and collaboratively with their team, other Agency staff, and external partners in a respectful and professional manner.
- Supervises staff to include preparing performance planning and evaluation documents and related personnel paperwork. Coaches, counsels and trains

and Blind, and Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School. The supervisor staff's cases with team members, assigns investigative tasks, monitors progress, and
provides guidance on investigative approaches. The supervisor ensures that investigations comply with state laws, agency policies, and confidentiality
requirements, reviews investigative documentation for accuracy and completeness, and serves as a point of escalation for complex cases. * The employee provides expertise and guidance to team members in analyzing complex investigations, identifying relevant issues, and determiningappropriate investigative strategies. The supervisor collaborates with the Critical Investigations Unit Director and other agency staff regarding critical
incidents, evaluates investigative reports, and ensures the collection of all relevant evidence, records, and documentation. The supervisor applies
in-depth knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies governing child-serving agencies to ensure investigations are thorough, compliant, and effective. * The employee ensures that investigative staff communicate effectively and professionally with children, state agencies, and other stakeholders. Thesupervisor promotes ethical, objective, and compassionate communication, prevents conflicts of interest, and ensures the team's conduct upholds the
Agency's mission and professional standards. * The employee ensures that staff strictly adhere to agency policies and state and federal confidentiality requirements. The supervisor monitors secureaccess to electronic records, enforces proper documentation of system access, ensures interviews and case discussions are conducted in private, and
verifies that all records are properly secured when not under direct control. * The employee assigns and oversees additional duties as required or directed by the Critical Investigations Unit Director or System ImprovementLeadership and ensures that the team completes all assigned responsibilities within required timeframes. The employee also performs other related
duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of the Division.
- Bachelor's degree and professional experience in leadership, child welfare, and/or investigations.
- This position will require travel throughout the state.
- The applicant must possess a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and ability to drive independently throughout the state.

- Professional/Post graduate degree, law enforcement or investigations experience, and demonstrates knowledge of law and policy regarding nine state agencies.
