Description of Work UnitLory Dining Services' mission is to sell a variety of food and beverages in a safe and sanitary environment and for the best possible value to a diverse customer base at Colorado State University.The mission of the Lory Student Center (LSC) is to serve as a student-centered organization at the heart of campus, providing programs and services that create an inclusive community and inspire active, engaged learning. As an auxiliary enterprise within the Division of Student Affairs, the LSC is a comprehensive student union recognized nationally as one of the leading university centers. The LSC annual operating budget is approximately$40 million. Nearly 125 full-time career staff and 650 student and hourly staff serve approximately 24,000 people entering the facility on a daily basis and hosts approximately 13,000 annual events and meetings. Areas within the Lory Student Center include the CSU Bookstore; Campus Activities; Lory Dining Services; Marketing (Colab); Operations; Student Leadership, Involvement & Community Engagement (SLiCE); and an extensive array of business and service partners.

Position SummaryThis position will exist to coordinate and execute with staff the food production and service in various areas of the Lory Catering facilities. Duties include cooking, food preparation, assisting student staff, adherence to defined policies and procedures, documentation for checklists, quality standards, standard operating procedures and logs.To act as a general foodservice worker and perform a variety of supportive foodservice work including, but not limited to: meeting and greeting guests, cleaning tasks, washing dishes, preparation of foods and beverages in accordance with Lory Catering standards and recipes, make catering deliveries, set up and tear down of event equipment, and other duties as appropriate and assigned.Must learn the rules and regulations of dining services and orient themselves with the facility in order to be able to organize and prioritize work assignments within established operating procedures and guidelines. Must be able to work in varying work conditions and be on your feet for extended periods of time.Adhere to CSU's safety guidelines associated with public health.Lory Catering Employees have an abiding commitment to serving the diverse needs of the University community, the active promotion of an equitable and inclusive environment, and the development and enhancement of collaborative relationships.Employment is offered for 9 months. - Minimum 1 year food production experience to include experience in high production catering
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use knife skills, meat slicer, food processor, and other kitchen equipment used for high volume food preparation
- Current certification in ServSafe and working knowledge of HACCP practices, or other food handling/health department certification - completed food safety training/classes
- Experience working with fresh produce which includes: inventory, ordering, preparing (i.e. washing, handling, cutting etc.)
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a work environment where teamwork can thrive
- Leadership capabilities: able to guide student employees to ensure adherence to defined policies and procedures
- Strong knowledge of health inspections, state and local food regulations
- Experience working in a college/university food service environment, serving a diverse population of customers and constituents
- Experience working in a high volume food service setting
