
Power Quality and Control Engineer

- Participate in planning and formulation of design alternatives and solutions for power quality and control solutions; provide conceptual estimates, feasibility studies, and cost estimates, and may coordinate the production of basic design plans and construction documents
- Review and interpret proposed designs, architectural drawings, and building specifications for appropriateness to required function and/or institutional standard, and initiate revisions where appropriate; advise consultants and clients as to how best to achieve required results
- Perform baseline energy audits and develop energy efficiency measures and associated ROI, and implement solutions
- Ensure project operations are in compliance with design specifications, submittals, and with state and federal policies and regulations
- Establish performance and delivery criteria ensuring that client requirements are being met; prepare project specifications, and coordinate procurement, as appropriate
- Inspect, approve, and accept completed projects for the company, ensuring conformance building and life safety codes, and architectural/engineering specifications
- Represent company in business with customers, consultants, contractors, and other public and/or private agencies and organizations
- Offer and implement solutions to customers through engineering and field personnel
- Continuously develop relationships with existing customers and pursue opportunities which provide long-term customer relationships and revenue opportunities, cross sell and cold call
- Educate customers on Baker Group capabilities not only in the electrical and automation business, but also cross selling capabilities for revenue opportunities within other business units
- Develop solutions for customers utilizing internal estimating software and standard product selections. Review with Baker Group team members solutions prior to submitting to customer – make sure we can deliver what we are selling
- Act as account manager or single point of contact with customer during project execution
- Attend scheduling meetings with Operations Manager – assist with scheduling field labor
- Attend internal and external project meetings, provide oral and written communication on information requests, proposal requests, coordination, submittal reviews, etc.
- Initiate turnover meetings to engineering and field discussing project scope, safety, timelines, etc.
- Procure subcontracts for installation – use procurement documented format when obtaining multiple bids
- Utilize company standard documents for business development, pre-proposal checklists, turnovers, subcontracts, purchase orders, warranty, etc.
- Manage projects to ensure financial success of the project
- Understanding of integration of renewable energy sources with traditional power systems.
- Knowledge of smart grid technologies and their implementation in power distribution
- BS in Electrical Engineering or 10+ years or related experience
- Professional Electrical Engineer is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of commercial, laboratories, healthcare, data centers, industrial, hospitality and governmental facilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and CAD software
- State of Iowa PE License preferred
- Prior experience in construction, design and documentation of electrical systems
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Experience in estimating/managing automation projects, building and growing customer relationships
- Successfully pass drug test and background investigation as contingency for employment.
