- Appraising performance, including annual evaluations and new employee 60-day evaluations.
- Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Work with the Sales and Marketing Department on customer requirements for quotes, submittals, ect.
- Manage collection and analyzing HMA and AGG production and construction data. Recommend appropriate adjustments to production and construction staff to bring process into compliance with applicable standards and follow-up on actions taken to ensure anticipated results are obtained.
- HMA Mixture Design: assist in development of design gradations.
- Assist with Interviewing and hiring process as necessary.
- Investigate any reports of low quality work.
- Looks for ways to improve and promote quality by communication observations.
- Participates in pre-construction meetings with project team.
- Build customer relations, investigate product quality complaints and recommend operation changes as needed.
- Develops implements and evaluates programs and procedures to ensure quality.
- Mix design creation and implementation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree accredited college or university and five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control. Civil engineering and/or P.E. highly desired.
- HMA Plant and/or Paving Technician Classification preferred.
- ACI Field Grade I, ACI Strength, and ACI Aggregate Grade I Certifications preferred.
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
- Must have valid driver's license and meet the qualifications of the fleet safety program.
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must have strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Must be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Must desplay a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls.
- Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.
- Must be familiar with local municipality and DOT specifications, such as sampling frequency, sampling methods, graduation requirements, quality requirements, etc.
- Ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
- Knowledge of safety, the environment and transportation.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic operating procedures and mechanics of an asphalt plants.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving, and receiving feedback.
- Must have a solid understanding of plant practices and quality control procedures.
- Must be skilled in using computer and Excel, Word, CommandQC, Command Batch, and Command Concrete software programs.
- Ability to detect safety hazards and malfunctions and respond accordingly.
- Ability to read, understands, and interprets architectural and engineering documents, as well as ACI, ASTM, and AASHTO Standards.
- Must have strong problem solgving and leadership skills.
- Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
- May require sitting for extended periods of time.
- Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to hold weights of 5-10lbs in a stretched arm position for extended periods of time.
