- Acts as liaison between Physician, Radiologic Interventionalist and cardiovascular or the radiology staff to convey information concerning specific procedures.
- Adheres to The Joint Commission Patient Safety Goals.
- Assists physicians with interventional and specialized studies; reviews, develops and performs new procedures as required.
- Assists staff and patient with appropriate radiation protection. Performs prescribed periodic checks of radiation safety equipment. Responsible for requesting dosimetry monitoring and adherence to dosimetry policy.
- Assures prompt communication of Special Procedures and Diagnostic Policy and procedure changes; assures the Special Procedures and Prep Manual are current.
- Responsible for orientation of new staff and physicians to CV Lab Radiation safety guidelines and policies.
- Completes required continuing education as needed in order to maintain ARRT and Permit to Practice.
- Determines technical factors and provides quality study of angiography procedures.
- Introduces self, collects appropriate history, explains exam to patient and provides for patients emotional, physical and psychological needs.
- Operates all radiographic imaging equipment in the Cardiovascular Lab or the Radiology Department.
- Performs quality control of equipment, appropriate maintenance and reports faulty equipment.
- Prepares materials and patients and performs exams; sets up all sterile trays with appropriate equipment and selects proper catheters, guide wire, drain and dressing materials for each special procedure.
- Prepares materials, including medications and imaging media; prepares patients and performs exams.
- Performs other duties as assigned; including Radiation Safety officer

- Senior Imaging Technologist: A Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Senior Imaging Technologist: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Imaging Technologist: Requires Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required.
- Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
- Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.
- Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in a level 1 Trauma center is desired.
- Recent work or clinical education experience in general radiography is desired.
- Recent work or clinical education experience in CT.
- CT modality training.
- CT certification or eligible.
