The Sr EHS Manager will manage and build the environmental, health and safety programs, teams and culture for our NV Li-ion battery manufacturing processes. The Sr EHS Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive EHS management systems to ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace and drive a Safety-driven culture. This role involves providing leadership and technical expertise to drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.Essential Duties:
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement throughout the PECNA organization.
- Identifies and drives implementation of strategic EHS initiative and cross-functional, complex projects with large business impacts; identifies elements of change required to support the EHS strategy; balances short-term demands with long term benefits of strategic EHS initiatives.
- Collaborate with all departments and stakeholders to ensure that EHS policies, programs, procedures and trainings are clearly defined and communicated and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and conformance with the company's EHS management system.
- Serve as a technical consultant/subject matter expert to PECNA engineering and production teams for guidance on EHS programs and policies and best practices. Key areas will include but not limited to Machine Guarding, Lock Out / Tag Out, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Laboratory Safety and Radiation Safety
- Develop and implement Management of Change processes. Serve as primary contact for EHS during reviews and approvals.
- Lead/support equipment risk assessments and process hazard analyses. Evaluate equipment design and suggest modifications and safety improvements
- Oversee chemical management, hazardous material storage, hazardous waste, recycling, air compliance, permits and sustainability efforts.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EHS laws, regulations, and standards. Evaluate, advise, and stay current with emerging regulations and best practices.
- Support or lead incident reporting and analyses to determine root cause(s), prevention, and corrective measures. Analyze incident trends to identify continuous improvement projects.
- Coach and influence EHS team members and production safety teams(s) to achieve such goals with a High-Performance Safety Culture mindset.
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental management, safety, business, engineering, or equivalent scientific field from four-year accredited College or University.
- Master's degree from accredited College or University preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in EHS management with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful programs and initiatives.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience.
- 5-7 year work experience in Manufacturing or large scale operations preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations including but not limited OSHA, NFPA, 70E, ANSI EPA, RCRA, CWA, SWPPP, SPCC, etc.
- Self-starter and results oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against production deadlines and goals. Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced and changing environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences. Ability to give formal presentations and communicate successfully with all levels of employees and management.
- Ability to negotiate and build effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, both inside and outside of the company.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully leading projects (achieving goals on time and within budget, attention to detail; strong documentation and reporting skills).
- Possess analytical qualities to make sound decision, through the conceptualization and evaluation of different courses of action to meet or exceed operational goals.
- Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and 6S principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Proficient with EHS Management System software.
- Proficient with EHS Management System software.
- Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) are highly desirable.
