OverviewPrinceton University’s Facilities' Office of Capital Projects (OCP), projects seek an experienced Architect/Code Analyst to join our dynamic staff.The University Code Analyst serves as the Construction Code specialist for the University and is the chief liaison to the State Bureau of Construction Project Review, and University Code representative to Municipalities for all Construction Plan Review and Permit approval matters. The Code Analyst provides management, oversight and guidance on all Code matters effecting University Construction and assists with related Fire Safety and Campus Housing issues as they pertain to buildings constructed and occupied under the State Codes.This individual must embody core values essential to the organization including excellent customer service, resourcefulness, dependability, and approachability, while exercising the utmost discretion. The position will require strong organizational, communication, customer service, and process management skills to help shape this dynamic department responsible for executing the Capital Plan.Responsibilities
  • Liaison to the State Bureau of Construction Project Review, and University Code representative to Municipal Construction Offices.
  • Expedite Plan Review of University Class 1 Construction Projects by the State Bureau of Construction Project Review.
  • Expedite receipt of Final State Plan Review Approvals to allow issuance of Municipal Certificates of Occupancy.
  • Provide advice to State and Municipal Construction Officials concerning specific Code questions on University Construction Projects.
  • Track the status of all submittals made to the State Bureau of Construction Project Review.
  • Meet with Program and Project Managers to maintain and pass on State and Municipal Construction Code information.
  • Act as resource to the University Community on Code matters.
  • Serve as adviser to the office, reporting directly to the Senior Code Analyst.
  • Other tasks from time to time determined to be within scope of practice.
QualificationsEssential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Code Compliance, of similar field of study.
  • 5 years construction experience at an institute of higher education, or 10 years’ experience in an architectural firm, engineering firm, or government agency with responsibility of enforcing the NJ Uniform Construction Code.
  • Licensed and certified in New Jersey Construction, Fire and Housing Codes. Including Construction Code Official, Subcode Official, and HHS (Class 1) Building or Fire UCC inspector licenses, or combination thereof.
  • Experience in Codes and Standards, Plan Review, and Inspections.
  • Able to assist professional and technical staff in State Uniform Construction Code matters.
  • Proficient in the use of web-based project management software/tools.
  • Ability to make persuasive written and oral presentations to authorities and peers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed New Jersey Architect, Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain a license), highly desirable.
