The Strategic Sourcing Manager will develop, drive and execute a new product category with Reality Lab at Meta. We are looking for individuals who desire to be on the ground floor of a breakthrough technology and help build a world class supply chain. This individual is responsible for driving supplier business management activities for custom mechanical categories. This strategic sourcing manager will work closely with Hardware Engineering, Technical Program Management, Finance and Technical Operations during the product development cycle from prototype to mass production to ensure successful product launch. The person will lead sourcing activities related to new technologies and innovative manufacturing processes to realize design intent while optimizing quality versus cost, driving sustainability and championing continuous improvement throughout the lifecycle of products.Strategic Sourcing Manager, Custom Mechanicals ResponsibilitiesDevelop a mechanical sourcing strategy ensuring Reality Lab's product roadmaps and business requirements are metUnderstand and communicate industry trends, competitive landscape, and Meta's relationship with suppliers, partners, and industryDrive early supplier engagement in New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Technology Introduction (NTI) programsEstablish mechanical supplier selection criteria, evaluate suppliers, manage the supplier selection process, and drive final supplier selection in partnership with hardware engineering, manufacturing design engineering, and supplier quality team.Negotiate master agreements and SOW with suppliers to establish best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty and service terms.Formulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges, long lead time, single source, and non-cancellable/non-returnable (NCNR) supply issues.Lead design and cost trade-off conversation during development stages to influence production design and manufacturing processes for the best decision of the product.Initiate, prepare, constantly adjust and execute the mass production plan of the new product collaborating with product operations and tech operations team through the end of product life. Manage the negotiation and closing phase of the end of product life.Develop and implement supplier performance measurement system and conduct periodic supplier business reviews with the management and cross functional team.Influence the direction of suppliers' business investments and roadmaps to align with Meta's strategic goals for mechanical technology developmentLead total cost reduction program to achieve the lowest possible total cost which covers product cost, transportation cost, inventory cost and cost of quality.Utilizes should-cost models to inform negotiation strategies, identify cost reduction opportunities, and optimize supplier pricing.Collaborate with cross functional teams within Meta and supply base to drive product and process improvementsBuilds relationships with peers and stakeholders on organization-wide initiatives, obtaining alignment on objectives and articulating strategy, with a focus on driving growth and innovation in mechanical categories.Proactively identifies new opportunities outside of their functional area and leads cross-functional organizational initiatives to drive innovation and growth in mechanical categories.Willingness to travel (10-15% of time) and open to work with different time zonesMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, supply chain management, business or equivalent practical experience7+ years of sourcing experience5+ years of managing Asia based suppliers in commoditiesDemonstrated knowledge and experience in mechanical processes, including familiarity with mechanical components supply baseWorking knowledge in all or any of the following areas: plastic injection molding, compression molding, stamping, forging, CNC machining, die-casting, soft goods and related manufacturing processesExperience in supplier evaluation/selection, should-cost modeling, contract negotiation and supply base managementDemonstrated experience in building bottom-up should cost modelsDemonstrated experience in leading comprehensive negotiations with suppliers and managing executive level relationshipsPreferred QualificationsMBA or Master of Mechanical EngineeringExperience with high volume, consumer electronics productsExperience with managing CMs, ODMs, OEMsSourcing experience in custom mechanical parts, assemblies, and modulesFor those who live in or expect to work from California if hired for this position, please click for additional information.About MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
