- Compile expense budget new funding requests as well as savings/cost reduction proposals in preparation for financial plan submissions to the Mayor's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) along with any other needed budget exercises.
- Perform technical budget activities including daily budget modifications requests, daily PS and OTPS reports, variance reports, monthly spending plans and other technical budget functions.
- Provide recommendations regarding funding availability and budget structures required for procurements.
- Maintain DEP's position schedule to verify the existence of vacancies and funding within the budget structures to support approvals for job postings and submissions to OMB.
- Coordinate budget and financial requests from DEP's operating bureaus and other units while working closely with program areas to provide accurate and timely responses.
- Assist DEP's operating bureaus and other units in preparing budget requests including prioritizing program choices.
- Monitor and coordinate with OMB on DEP's Miscellaneous Revenue budget.
- Aid with expense and revenue technical corrections.
- Assist in preparation of operating procedures and templates for grant submissions.
- Liaise with program staff to assist with the preparation of grant applications, budgets and other required documents.
- Liaison with OMB, Comptroller's Office, City Council, and other oversight bodies as needed.
- Perform other budget analyses and special projects as needed by Senior Staff.ACCOUNTANT - 40510Qualifications1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing; or
2. A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license.
