- Operational Responsibilities:
- Perform expert-level packing, inspection, and maintenance of PPS and cargo parachute systems, including but not limited to RA-1, MC-6, T-11R, APS, Raider Intruder, and Military Tandem systems.
- Build and rig aerial delivery loads for land and maritime airdrop operations, including combat expendable platforms and SOF-specific configurations.
- Conduct Parachute Rigger Checks and recovery/retrograde operations for PPS and Aerial Delivery Equipment (ADE) during land and water airborne missions.
- Instructional Duties:
- Assist in classroom and field instruction on PPS and Aerial Delivery methods, ensuring personnel are trained to perform static line (S/L) and Military Free Fall (MFF) jump operations safely and effectively.
- Train and mentor newly assigned AFSPECWAR and contractor personnel on parachute systems, oxygen equipment, and other critical gear.
- Equipment Maintenance and Support:
- Service, inspect, and maintain high-altitude supplemental oxygen systems, night vision devices, altimeters, emergency breathing systems, and flotation devices to ensure operational safety.
- Maintain AFE materials and ensure proper documentation of all inspections and certifications.
- Oversee and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, enhancing functionality and efficiency.
- Mission Integration:
- Participate in full-mission profile training, acting as Opposing Force (OPFOR) or medical role players to enhance realism.
- Support logistical operations, including loading/unloading equipment onto aircraft and water vessels.
- 3+ years of experience with AFSPECWAR or SOF units.
- Must be a graduate of US Army Quartermaster Center and School (USAQMC&S) RA-1, Ft. Gregg-Adams, VA.
- MFF operations experience. Special Operations airdrop rigging. Maritime airdrop recovery operations.
- Knowledge/application of USAF aviation flight safety program malfunction, mishap, and incident reporting.
- USAQMC&S approved RA-1 New Equipment Training (NET) or Mobile Training Team (MTT) rigging courses.
- DZCO qualified.
- Certification as FAA Senior Rigger with back rating at time of employment. Chest rating must be acquired within 6 months of hiring. AFES and AFE Program Manager may extend the time to 12 months.
- Carry up to 75 lbs of equipment for 4 hours.
- Lift 225 lbs from the floor to waist height.
- Work in demanding environments involving explosives, hazardous materials, and corrosive fuels.
