- Parachute Systems Expertise:
- Pack, inspect, and maintain premeditated and cargo parachute systems, including RA-1, MC-6, T-11R-SP, Military Tandem, and other SOF parachute systems.
- Conduct daily rigging operations, packing no fewer than four (4) complete systems (main and reserve) per day.
- Supervise packing operations, performing In-Process Inspections (IPIs) for at least four (4) packers daily, ensuring adherence to FAA and USAF standards.
- Maintain FAA Master Rigger certification and currency for all assigned systems.
- Aerial Delivery Operations:
- Build and rig aerial delivery loads, including combat expendable platforms and SOF-specific maritime and land airdrop loads.
- Supervise and load airdrop equipment, training materials, and logistical supplies into aircraft and vessels.
- Recover and retrograde parachutes and aerial delivery items from land and open water environments using military-approved vehicles or vessels.
- Instruction and Training:
- Provide classroom and field instruction on parachute systems, aerial delivery methods, and related equipment for new personnel and contractor support staff.
- Conduct training in land and maritime environments, supporting full-mission profile scenarios as an Opposing Force (OPFOR) member or non-invasive medical patient.
- Assist in training Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE) technicians to maintain fully mission-capable equipment.
- Maintenance and Inspections:
- Service and maintain high-altitude supplemental oxygen equipment, night vision devices, altimeters, emergency breathing systems, and flotation devices.
- Perform inspections and repairs on parachutes, AFE materials, and related equipment to ensure operational safety and effectiveness.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe parachute rigger workspace, supporting logistical needs and enhancing team efficiency.
- Mission Support:
- Serve as Drop Zone Control Officer (DZCO), perform rigger checks, and act as Malfunction Officer during airborne operations.
- Participate in squadron information meetings and morale events as directed, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- 3+ years of experience with AFSPECWAR or SOF units.
- 1+ years serving as an FAA Master Rigger.
- Must be a graduate of a US Army Quartermaster Center and School (USAQMC&S) RA-1, Ft. Gregg-Adams, VA.
- Knowledge of Military Free Fall (MFF) and static line (S/L) jump operations.
- Knowledge/application of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Master Rigger experience, competencies and skills requirements.
- Knowledge/application of USAF aviation flight safety program malfunction, mishap, and incident reporting.
- USAQMC&S approved RA-1 New Equipment Training (NET) or Mobile Training Team (MTT) rigging courses.
- Experience supporting INDOPACOM operations or participating in named exercises (e.g., Cobra Gold).
- Military Freefall Jumpmaster certification.
- Additional SOF-related certifications or training.
- Carry up to 75 lbs of equipment for 4 hours.
- Lift 225 lbs from the floor to waist height.
- Work in demanding environments involving explosives, hazardous materials, and corrosive fuels.
