- 3 years’ experience in safety or security
- Class “A” Illinois Driver’s License
- Experience working with students is preferred
- Passing score on Step Test (This is a timed test requiring you to step up and down on a 12” step at a rate of 25 full (up and down) steps per minute for 1 minute.)
- Municipal and state codes, as well as district policies and procedures
- Behavior intervention techniques including de-escalation of a situation
- Crowd control procedures and the detection and identification of dangerous drugs and

- Regular attendance to perform assigned duties
- Control access to facilities, issues passes and directs visitors to appropriate areas
- Patrol assigned areas on foot or in vehicles to guard against theft, vandalism, and illegal entry
- Attempt to resolve less serious (non-criminal) acts of misconduct by students without arrest
- Identify and prevent persons from entering the building or grounds for the purpose of disrupting the educational process and/or committing criminal acts
- Perform periodic surveys of the physical plant to ascertain possible weak areas of security; advise the Coordinator of Security
- Follow the systemic patrol schedule of assigned school property determined by the Coordinator of Security
- Maintain a good working relationship with building administrators, co-workers, staff, and faculty members; be familiar with facilities in order to execute assigned duties in a professional, timely manner
- Continue to upgrade skills by attending workshops, seminars, and staff meetings as scheduled by the Director of Purchasing and Transportation
- Prepare reports as directed by the Director of Purchasing and Transportation
School Environment; walking standing, squatting, hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations; seeing to monitor various activities; kneeling, bending at the waist, sitting, for extended periods of time; walking fast or running to reach the point of security issues; reaching overhead, above shoulders, and horizontally, or bending at the waist to store files; lifting semi-heavy and heavy objects; driving a vehicle to conduct workWORK ING CONDITIONS:
Inside/outside and office environment; all types of weather, snow, rain, wind, heat and cold
