QUALITY CONTROL CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER – PHOENIX, AZWe are hiring 2 Quality Control Construction Engineers to join the Design & Construction department of a growing Semiconductor company in Phoenix, AZ. These positions are open due to continued growth and expansion as the company builds 7 additional facilities at this site. These facilities are the most advanced semiconductor fabs in the United States, and the Design & Construction team is participating in a historic buildout that pushes the boundaries of physics and engineering.This role will thrive in a dynamic and innovative setting that is focused on Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility Construction. Team members are expected to be enthusiastic, solution-oriented, and agile in aligning with stakeholders to drive progress and resolve challenges efficientlyJOB SUMMARY:These positions will be responsible for overseeing the Welding and Construction Quality Assurance Processes onsite to ensure compliance with industry standards (ASTM, ASME, AWS) and contract requirements. Duties include monitoring welding procedures, conducting visual inspections, enforcing a three-level inspection process, and documenting results. This person will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, supervise testing agencies, review submittals, prepare quality management plans, and lead safety initiatives. This person will also be expected to demonstrate core company values, adhere to safety protocols, and participate in training, inspections, and strategic planning activities. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to support project success.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor welding procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards (ASTM, ASME, AWS).
  • Supervise testing agencies and maintain records to ensure that testing meets ASTM standards.
  • Visually inspect welds and fusions on fittings and joints to verify adherence to company procedures.
  • Perform internal quality inspections and participate with IOR (Inspector of Record) inspections.
  • Participate in workplace inspections and verify materials meet contract specific requirements.
  • Identify and address issues, including improper welding techniques, material defects, or insufficient weld penetration.
  • Monitor and enforce Three-Level Inspection process. Conduct daily observations to ensure each level is implemented as designed. Document results.
  • Ensure that all required work has been completed in compliance with approved submittals, contract documents, and contract requirements. Resolve differences and ensure rework is being corrected.
  • Performs submittal reviews and approvals for compliance with subcontract documents.
  • Schedule and conduct pre-installation conferences.
  • Prepare Quality Management Plans for specialized projects.
  • Participate in Contractor Quality Weekly Meetings.
  • Manage and document weekly QC meetings with internal team and external quality representatives.
  • Manage daily and weekly QC/QA reports to reinforce that activities are constructed in conformance with established standards.
  • Maintain Employer Safety Procedures and Work Practices by refusing unsafe work, reporting all incidents, attending prestart and safety meetings, and advising employees on hazardous situations.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and AIA guidelines as applicable to design and construction field.
  • Complete other duties as needed or assigned in support of the successful completion of the project.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • B.S. in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Construction, Building Science, or Engineering Technology
  • May consider non-degreed candidates depending on experience and certification
  • 5+ years of experience in Construction Management related to Industrial Projects
  • 4+ years of experience in MEP Engineering related to multiple Building Systems
  • 2+ years of experience with Inspection Testing Plans from the foundation
  • USACE Construction Quality Management Certification or equivalent
  • Preferred – CWI Certification, ASNT II Certification, or ICC Certification
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge in Industrial Construction codes, including but not limited to: ASME B31.3, NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 54 (NFGC), and IBC Chapter 17.
  • Experience utilizing Procore, Viewpoint, SharePoint, Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Bluebeam, and/or BIM 360 Field
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and enforcing applicable codes, contract requirements, project drawings, and project specifications
  • Demonstrated experience building and executing Inspection Test Plans
WORK ENVIRONMENT:This person will work directly with a team of about 40 people supporting 5 large Fab projects. These projects consist of a variety of MEP systems, so the team prefers candidates who have worked on multiple different types of systems. The welding for these projects is considered a Critical Item that requires additional focus, but it is not the sole focus.Candidates must be willing and able to work onsite in the Phoenix, AZ, facilities. This is an active construction site, so candidates may be required to work in various weather conditions year-round. This position will be required to conduct visual inspections onsite, which may consist of physical demands and heavy lifting. Standard work hours will be Monday-Friday, either 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm. Additional overtime hours may be required depending on project demands.COMPENSATION:Salary range from $80,000-120,000/year with 18% bonus. Non-local candidates are eligible for relocation assistance.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
