We are seeking an experienced Director of Custodial Operations to lead custodial services, with some oversight of grounds and maintenance, across a large K-12 school district in Fort Wayne, IN. Reporting directly to the District Manager, you will oversee daily operations, ensure top-quality service delivery, and lead a dedicated team to maintain safe, clean, and welcoming school facilities.This is an exciting opportunity for a proven facilities management leader who thrives in a collaborative, client-facing environment and is passionate about staff development, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee custodial operations with limited responsibility for grounds and maintenance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team, promoting career growth and high performance.
  • Build strong partnerships with district leadership and community stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in custodial services, floor care, and facility cleanliness.
  • Manage operational budgets, financial reporting, and cost controls.
  • Support capital planning, purchasing, subcontracting, and compliance initiatives.
  • Deliver exceptional client satisfaction while optimizing operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Facilities Management experience (K-12 or higher education strongly preferred), with a focus on custodial operations.
  • Expertise in custodial services, floor care, and equipment management.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven success in staff development and team building.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities with staff, executives, and clients.
  • Solid business and financial acumen, including budgeting and reporting.
  • Knowledge of project management best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) or related credential is a plus.
