- You will utilize experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirement.
- Be responsible for system and subsystem-level design requirements. Define and manage interfaces to all subsystems in compliance with the system solution.
- Conduct component and product integration for maximum performance and operability. Define system validation plans, execute system validation testing, and work with test engineers to ensure traceability satisfies project objectives.
- Work with the Engineering Project Manager to generate and execute design review matrices and reviews. Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
- Take ownership of technical concepts, solutions, risks/mitigation plans, and engineering cost estimates on proposals.
- Maintain broad awareness of technical trends to ensure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work, and reviews and responsiveness to customer/program needs.
- Lead/manage interdisciplinary collaboration with software, hardware, test, safety, maintainability, reliability and certification teams assuring “cradle to grave” success.
- Interface with customers and suppliers to align on product needs.
- Cross-train systems engineers on requirements, functionality, and capabilities of the Networking Product line.
- Ensure timely delivery of systems requirements, validation/verification activities, and issue resolution. Escalate issues requiring additional leadership support promptly.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Demonstrate ability to perform while challenged by multiple demands and changing priorities
- Travel up to 10%.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other technical / science discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on design, implementation, integration, testing, verification and experience involving; Avionics Engineering Systems, Hardware / Software / Testing Engineering, and/or Electrical Design.
- Deep understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, and subnetting.
- This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
- Self-starter with the ability to lead the effort with minimum supervision.
- Experience in deterministic Ethernet protocols, particularly Time Sensitive Networking / IEEE 802.1AS / IEEE 802.1DP; or educational/professional background that supports learning the technology.
- Experience working in systems including ARINC A615A, A664, A429, A629, A835, MIL-STD-1553, IEEE1394, RS485.
- Hands-on capability to handle test equipment (power supplies, o-scopes, etc.), data bus capturing tools, scripting languages (Python, C, C#), source code (Assembly) and Excel data manipulation aspects (Condensing large amounts of information)).
- Knowledge of network protocols (QoS, PfR, NTP, DHCP), network management protocols (FTP, TFTP, SNMP) and security protocols (SSH, IPSec, TrustSec)
- Background in System Design, Integration and Validation on systems involving network switches
- Deep understanding of service provider networks including but not limited to connectivity (Ethernet, IPv4), Switching and routing.
- Experience creating documentation and procedures
- Creative problem solving that can bring multiple disciplines together with the ability to assess risk and make design/development decisions without all available data
- Knowledge in Avionics Systems and Aerospace Operating Practices.
- Understanding and translating customer requirements for applications development for software solutions.
- Experience with Cameo, Teamwork Cloud, DOORs, and RTC/EWM.
- Experience with System Testing Processes, Tools, and Automation.
- Ability to engage and build positive relationships with both customers and internal and external employees.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Prior experience managing or designing within an Avionics Design Assurance Level A Environment.
- ARP 4754A, DO-178, DO-254, DO-297 and/or DO-330 process assurance experience.
- Customer Technical Interface experience.
- System Project Estimation and Bidding Experience.
