About the Division of Public Health and Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology:The NC Division of Public Health (DPH) works to promote and contribute to the highest possible level of health for the people of North Carolina - Everywhere, Everyday, Everybody.The Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Branch investigates workplace and environmental conditions that may pose a risk to human health. Our expertise includes epidemiology, toxicology, industrial hygiene, and health communications. We identify and quantify environmental concerns for public health surveillance, provide medical consultation for exposures of concern at work or in communities, conduct risk assessments, and provide scientifically-based guidance on acceptable levels of exposure to environmental contaminants.Summary:The Environmental Program Consultant (EPC) will manage the Component B: Farmworker Hurricane Recovery and Resiliency Project and other projects as necessary within the NC Environmental Public Health Tracking (EPHT) Program. This person will be an individual skilled in project management and evaluation, as well as partnership building and community engagement best practices. This position will be responsible for creating project timelines, leading the development of a community needs assessment, overseeing the development of training curricula, completing grant deliverables, leading team meetings, gathering performance measures and evaluation data, co-authoring grant renewal applications, managing grant budgets, and managing general EPHT project work, under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI) and with the assistance of the Operations Manager. The EPC will act as a liaison between the Farmworker Health Program in the Office of Rural Health, the NC EPHT Program in the Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Branch (OEEB), the NC Cooperative Extension Farmworker Health and Safety Program, and the Public Health Preparedness and Response Branch of the Epidemiology Section. The EPC will also mentor the Community Development Specialist II and provide subject matter expertise in environmental health-related topics. Public health interventions for the EPHT Program will be coordinated with other state, local, and federal agencies through workgroups and advisory committee meetings. The EPC will be supervised by the Principal Investigator of the NC EPHT Program.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / CompetenciesTo receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form. Management Preferences
  • Ability to organize and supervise the work of others.
  • Knowledge of community health best practices.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
