Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships and DevelopmentThe American Flood Coalition (AFC) is a nonpartisan group that drives transformational adaptation tohigher seas, stronger storms, and more frequent flooding. AFC comprises more than 400 elected officials,local leaders, military groups, and businesses that work together to advance resilient and equitable floodsolutions at the local, state, and federal level. As the only organization that focuses on flooding and sealevel rise across all levels of government, AFC is uniquely positioned to transform how communitiesaround the country adapt to flooding and sea level rise.Position Summary:We are seeking a strategic and detailed Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development to join our growing organization. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the Executive Director, this role will be responsible for implementing donor strategy, managing engagement with high profile current and potential donors, crafting compelling messaging that advances our fundraising goals and contributing directly to project development.The position is a tremendous opportunity to implement a multi-year fundraising strategy and join a team of passionate and talented people who are dedicated to helping flood-affected communities adapt and thrive. We are open to discussing a more junior or more senior role with the right candidate.Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer on fundraising strategy and new programming.
  • Work closely with leadership and program teams to develop new concepts for funding and create proposals.
  • Support the Executive Director on donor cultivation, networking, and communication, including thought leadership strategy.
  • Craft compelling impact stories for donors, in coordination with the marketing and communications team.
  • Lead day-to-day donor team internal operations, including setting up new systems and processes to scale impact, managing donor stewardship calendar, grant reporting timelines, and assigning and overseeing donor team tasks.
  • Build trust-based relationships with current donors, including drafting grant reports and correspondence.
RequirementsQualifications:
  • 7+ years of nonprofit, foundation, or communications work experience, including 3+ years of experience in development and/or grants management from a recipient or donor perspective.
  • Significant experience writing or reviewing foundation grant proposals and creating compelling impact stories.
  • Experience contributing to fundraising or grant-making strategy.
  • A track record of learning new areas of programmatic content quickly.
  • Ability to direct teams with multiple priorities and projects; create structure and processes for others; and leverage strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and excited to help organize others’ work.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
