- Be directly responsible for fundraising from foundations, high net-worth individuals, and corporate sponsors, and for meeting specific fundraising targets annually.
- Work with the President and CEO to establish funding goals and benchmarks for a portfolio of mixed funding streams.
- Develop customized strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of each funding source as well as viable prospects in the portfolio with the ultimate goal of securing unrestricted, core support (or in some cases thematically-restricted support) grants and multi-year funding commitments.
- Design and implement creative and comprehensive strategies for funders within the portfolio, leading on engagement and dialogue, proposal submissions, ongoing engagement, and reporting.
- Support the involvement of the Board members, Global Leadership Circle, President, CEO, and staff in relationship management with funders and their key personnel by providing briefing materials, agendas, background research, and appropriate follow-up.
- Synthesize ONE's campaigns and programs into clear, compelling presentations, proposals, and reports for ONE's funders.
- Monitor and analyze philanthropic trends so that market opportunities may be capitalized on, ensuring that ONE's partnership proposal remains compelling and relevant.
- Establish a robust stakeholder management plan for each funding source, including identifying key performance indicators, ongoing planning, and reporting procedures to optimize quality of service and partnership impact.
- Ensure open and relevant communication is maintained between ONE and our funders.
- Collaborate closely with ONE program staff in all markets to manage the flow of communication between the broader organization and funding initiatives.
- Ensure ONE's CRM system is the basis for all relations management, data tracking and reporting, by working to established protocols for knowledge management and helping to refine these as needed.
- Interface with ONE's policy and advocacy teams to determine funding needs, and obtain their insights for developing compelling proposals and reporting on the impact and results.
- Develop period reports for funders and partners on the impact of their contributions
- Bachelor's degree in fundraising, non-profit management, or business preferred.
- Minimum 8 years progressive experience in fundraising in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrable experience in securing funds from foundations, major gifts, and corporate sponsors.
- Demonstrable skills in relationship management, grant management, proposal writing, and donor stewardship and demonstrated success in identifying and closing gifts $1M+ gifts.
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers, board members, committees, corporate executives, foundation representatives, and current and prospective donors.
- Ability to collaborate with technical and program professionals to develop proposals, concept notes, reports, and other development documents.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including experience speaking to and writing for donors and program staff about program design and implementation in a manner that indicates deep understanding and grasp of nuance.
- Ability to craft compelling narratives through storytelling with keen attention to detail.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to work with significant independence within the context of a team environment and a network of relationships.
- Experience in working to, and meeting, ambitious revenue goals and performance indicators, as well as participating in financial projections, reporting, and scenario planning.
- A well-developed knowledge of funding relationship planning processes, with a demonstrable understanding of the issues affecting the field.
- Knowledge and experience of emerging concepts and practices in the field of partnerships, including strategic philanthropy, evidence-based funding, PRI etc.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive, collaborative, productive relationships with staff at all levels.
- Sound judgment in maintaining the confidentiality of donor information.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to devise creative solutions to complex problems and issues.
- CRM experience - Salesforce and/or Raisers Edge.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data with the facility to understand budget models.
