- Install, configure, and upgrade IMS database systems in mainframe environments.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies.
- Perform routine database maintenance, including reorganizations, backups, and recovery processes.
- Design and implement IMS database structures (DBDs, PSBs, ACBs) to meet application requirements.
- Develop and maintain database utilities, automation scripts, and monitoring tools.
- Collaborate with application development teams to ensure optimal database design and performance.
- Manage database security, user access controls, and compliance with corporate policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IMS-related incidents, performance issues, and failures.
- Create and maintain documentation for IMS database configurations, procedures, and standards.
- Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution for IMS environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on IMS Database Administration experience in a mainframe environment.
- Proficiency in IMS database utilities (such as DFSRRC00, DFSUPAA0, and DFSURGU0).
- Strong knowledge of IMS DB architecture, DL/I, and transaction management.
- Experience with IMS performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
- Familiarity with JCL, TSO/ISPF, and mainframe monitoring tools.
- Understanding of IMS database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Experience working with IMS DB/DC in large-scale, high-availability environments.
- Knowledge of COBOL, PL/I, or Assembler for database-related application support.
- Familiarity with modern mainframe DevOps tools and automation frameworks.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Mainframe-based enterprise environment with high-volume transaction processing.
- Close collaboration with application developers, system programmers, and infrastructure teams.
