
Adjunct Faculty Pool - Health Information Technology/Management

- Instruct students in the content area (ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II) and work with them on strategies to help them achieve academic success (If applicable course assignment aligns with this content).
- Follow established protocols for presence, responsiveness, grading, attendance taking, and assessment of student learning.
- Use effective classroom management techniques in the Learning Management System, D2L Brightspace.
- Monitor and continuously improve instruction to ensure Student Learning Outcomes are met on a classroom, discipline/program, and College level.
- Evaluate student performance.
- Continually improve instruction utilizing appropriate delivery methods (Active discussions, virtual office/student hours, and video creation for instructional purposes.
- Maintain competency and currency in the teaching field, as well as in teaching strategies, subject delivery modalities, and assessment methods.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students and utilize a collegial style in all forms of communication.
- Certification from one of the following: AAPC, and/or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CPB, RHIA, RHIT, etc.)
- Experience teaching college-level courses
- Experience teaching online courses and/or alternative instructional formats
- Experience using a Learning Management System, preferably D2L Brightspace
- Student learning styles: ability to adapt and modify instruction based on the instructional needs of students, including working with accommodations and accessibility
- Evaluation of students' educational progress: ability to maintain high instruction and learning standards and assess students' academic progress in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes
- Competencies in diversity and inclusion: knowledge of diverse community college student populations, and the ability to address diversity in effective instructional practice and student learning
- Healthcare Quality Assurance and Supervision
- Pathophysiology and Pharmacology
- Electronic Health Records and Management (EHR/EMR) systems
- Medical coding including ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II
- Medical billing, including CMS-1500 and CMS-1450
- Coding certification, such as CPC, CCS, CPB, RHIT, RHIA, or CCS-P
- Bachelor's degree in the field of study and Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA OR
- Bachelor's degree in any field, 3 years of work experience in the field, and Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA OR
- Associate's degree in any field, 5 years of work experience in the field, and Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA OR
- 64 semester credit hours in the field of study, 5 years of work experience in the field, and Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA OR
- Industry-recognized certification in the field of study (AAPC or AHIMA) and 8 years of work experience in the field
- Letter of interest or cover letter (not to exceed two pages). Please indicate how the degree and/or courses on your transcripts meet the above minimum qualifications. Also, describe your related knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience, and the strengths you would bring to the assignment.
