Position Overview
Cetechs is seeking an Outpatient/Inpatient (OP/IP) Pharmacists to deliver comprehensive pharmacy services to beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS), Phoenix AZ.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Dispense medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners in compliance with VA policy and regulations.
  • Advise medical staff on medication selection, dosages, potential interactions, and side effects.
  • Counsel patients on medication use, adverse reactions, and drug interactions, and provide education on durable medical equipment and home health supplies.
  • Evaluate provider medication orders for appropriateness, including reviewing for duplications, incompatibilities, allergies, and possible therapeutic problems (e.g., dosing, strength, intervals).
  • Communicate and recommend alternatives to questionable medication therapies according to VA formulary and CPRS guidelines.
  • Ensure all medication orders are accurately entered and verified in the electronic patient medical record (VistA).
  • Maintain compliance and strict security for all controlled substances, uphold perpetual inventory control, and accurately document drug handling in accordance with VHA Handbook.
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and foster a supportive work environment with providers, patients, and staff.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College or School of Pharmacy (B.S. Pharmacy and/or Pharm.D.).
  • Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted pharmacist license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Licensed for controlled substances dispensing.
  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to verify competency, skills, certification, and education as required.
  • No history of restricted, suspended, or revoked licensure.
Work Schedule
  • Facility operates 24/7. Shifts may include 8, 11, or 12 hours (e.g., 0600-1430, 1400-2230, 1900-0600, or 1800-0600), and may require weekend or holiday service.
