As a Diesel & Heavy Equipment Mechanic, your day starts with inspecting the fleet-diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and rail track equipment. You'll troubleshoot issues, make repairs, and perform preventive maintenance. One day you might replace hydraulic components; the next, you could be diagnosing an electrical problem in the shop or repairing equipment out in the field.
