- Ensure effective labeling practices for all brands, overseeing the process from development through USDA label approval.
- Responsible for the overall label process, including continuous process improvement and documentation.
- Conduct regulatory reviews to ensure compliance with USDA and FDA regulations for all products.
- Maintain current knowledge of the USDA regulatory environment and requirements.
- Oversee Organic program compliance, including labeling and annual audits.
- Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical business partners, ensuring regulatory compliance in all product communications.
- Provide regulatory support to Meyer Natural team members, co-packers, and customers, assisting with claims, label development, and regulatory review.
- Collaborate with team members to bring compliant products to market, meeting Sales timelines.
- Facilitate new product development as it relates to label creation, product master data in ERP systems, and management in vendor databases (e.g., Kroger, Trader Joe’s, Albertson’s).
- Maintain and review product specifications from a diverse range of co-packers.
- Assist Procurement with animal protocol and supporting documentation for all protein suppliers to ensure accurate disclosure of processes to the USDA.
- Assist in maintaining co-packer logs, third-party audits, animal welfare audits, certificates of insurance (COIs), and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) information.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required - Food Science, Food Technology, Food and Nutrition highly preferred
- 3 years of experience in the food industry, including labeling and/or regulatory compliance, is required.
- 3 years of experience with USDA labeling practices are required; 5+ years of experience is preferred.
- Direct experience working with the USDA on label approvals, including temporary approvals and Organic program approvals/audits, required.
- Experience with product databases and specification/nutritional data preferred.
- Familiarity with product master data and product specification management is preferred.
- Previous experience in the protein industry is preferred.
- Experience with graphic design, printing processes, and related terminology is preferred.
