Description :The Staff Accountant is a member of the Grand America Hotels & Resorts Accounting team that oversees the accounting and financial operations for multiple hotels. This position will focus on assisting the Director of Accounting and Assistant Director of Accounting in accurate and timely financial reporting, process improvement, and collaborative team building in the Accounting department, as well as inter-departmentally.Responsibilities:
  • Maintain detailed and accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts for hotels and roadside properties
  • Reconcile intercompany worksheets to general ledger accounts
  • Assist Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Accounting with month end/year end close
  • Distribute a bi-monthly General Ledger report to department heads and respond to any inquiries regarding this report
  • Interact with external and internal auditors to respond to information requests
  • Provide direct assistance and support in sales and use tax filings
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and assist in implementing best practices to enhance efficiency
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity
  • Ad-hoc responsibilities assigned by management
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (3-5+ years of progressive Accounting experience, hotel Accounting is a plus)
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, USALI and audit principles
  • Solid Understanding of office etiquette, procedures and equipment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with other staff and senior management
  • Detail oriented and adaptable with a commitment to accuracy and excellence
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Sun Systems, Coupa, UKG is a plus
