Contract Controller – Alternative Investments
Location: ONSITE in Boston or New York City, must be local.
Compensation: $150/hr (W-2), open-ended contract, potential to convert to FTE (No c2c, no 1099)An established investment management firm seeks a seasoned finance leader to oversee accounting, reporting, and operational controls for a group of alternative investment funds. This senior contract role involves close partnership with executive leadership and requires deep experience managing financial close, portfolio valuations, and regulatory compliance within complex investment environments. The assignment offers long-term growth potential based on evolving business needs.Key Responsibilities:Direct all accounting and financial reporting for multiple alternative investment vehicles with sophisticated structuresLead end-to-end month-end/quarter-end close cycles, including Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations, fund performance reporting, and supporting documentationOversee valuation processes for both liquid and illiquid assets, coordinating with third-party providers as necessaryEnsure regulatory and investor reporting is accurate, timely, and fully compliant with relevant standards and guidelinesManage vendor and service provider relationships for fund administration, custody, and valuation servicesProvide executive-level business insights, analysis, and recommendations for process improvementMonitor daily cash flows, loan activity, and inter-entity fund movementsRequired Background:10+ years of progressive experience in fund accounting, controllership, or finance roles with alternative investments or complex portfolio fundsHands-on experience with NAV calculation, valuation of illiquid assets, and comprehensive fund performance reportingProven track record in regulatory compliance and financial controls for multi-entity investment structuresBachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or advanced degree preferredExceptional communication and organizational skills; able to collaborate with leadership and technical teams in a fast-paced settingKey Competencies:Analytical thinker, solutions-oriented, with strong attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities and thrive under tight deadlinesEffective relationship builder with both internal and external partnersCandidates must be based in Boston or New York City, with majority onsite presence required.All inquiries handled in strictest confidence.
