This is a high-impact role with statewide, legislative, and federal implications - perfect for a seasoned project leader who thrives in complex, collaborative environments.In this role, you will:
  • Embed racial equity and social justice principles into every stage of the strategic planning process.
  • Ensure authentic engagement with staff at all levels, creating space for their voices, lived experiences, and expertise to shape the agency's direction.
  • Partner with Tribes, community organizations, and key partners to co-create solutions that reflect the needs and strengths of Washington's diverse communities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all phases of the agency's five-year strategic plan project - from initiation to successful completion.
  • Coordinate cross-agency workstreams, ensuring projects are on time, on budget, and aligned with DCYF's mission, values, operating principles and equity commitments.
  • Facilitate collaboration with internal teams, Tribes, community partners, and state/federal agencies.
  • Apply change management strategies to support adoption of new systems, policies, and processes.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and updates to executive leadership and external key partners.
  • Manage project budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships.
Required Qualifications:Equivalent combination of education and experience totaling seven (7) years of project management experience with increasingly responsible and complex assignments involving large financial impacts. Ability to direct, manage, coach, and monitor both resources assigned to projects, as well as work with external customers to meet objectives. OR
  • Associate's degree in social sciences, organizational development, public administration, business administration, behavioral sciences or an allied field. AND five (5) years of progressively responsible and multi-dimensional experience in managing complex projects and/or programs.
OR
  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, organizational development, public administration, business administration, behavioral sciences or an allied field. AND three (3) years of progressively responsible and multi-dimensional experience in managing complex projects and/or programs.
AND
  • Demonstrated success leading strategic planning processes with executive-level key partners.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale projects with significant operational and policy impacts.
  • Experience applying racial equity and social justice frameworks to organizational planning, policy development, or program design.
  • Strong facilitation skills with a track record of authentically engaging staff and incorporating their input into decision-making.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful workplace principles.
In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Professional certification in project or change management.
  • Experience in public sector policy or project management, particularly in children, youth, and family services.
