2nd Assistant Superintendent Golf

- Assists in the implementation of all aspects of the daily operation, including, but not limited to, direct supervision of all greenkeepers and landscapers
- Assists in the daily operation and repair of the irrigation system
- Assists in the training and operation of all pieces of equipment with safety being the highest of priorities
- Participates in the implementation of the Hazardous Communications Program
- Operates any piece of equipment as required
- Participates in all aspects of direct supervision for all mowers, trap maintenance people and landscapers
- Assists in proper record keeping
- Supervises crew during absence of Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent (includes weekends & holidays when applicable)
- Assists in implementation of projects and using the assigned crew to finish projects in a timely manner
- Properly mows greens and tees
- Operates tractors, using specific attachments, to till, cultivate, and grade new turf areas
- Assists with landscaping; planting, cultivating, pruning, care of plants, shrubs and trees on golf course
- Responsible for bunker maintenance
- Repairs divots throughout course
- Rakes sand traps
- Complies with all Sunriver Resort’s policies, procedures and safety regulations
- Maintains a strong knowledge of emergency procedures
- Attends appropriate resort, division and department meetings
- Provides general resort information for guests
- Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests of Sunriver Resort including use of guest name when possible & good eye contact with each guest
- Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments when necessary
- Always maintains a professional demeanor and attitude
- Communicates all pertinent information to the golf maintenance team
- Maintains a professional appearance. Follows all Sunriver Resort dress code standards
- Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school education or equivalent required
- Three to five years of appropriate schooling, experience or training in golf course maintenance preferred
- Strong golf course background with experience in all phases of turf management program required
- Experience with and the ability to operate specialized golf course turf management equipment required
- Must have a valid Oregon drivers license and meet company driving standards
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Excellent equipment operation skills
- Must have good mechanical understanding and ability
- Must have excellent leadership skills
- Must have interest and knowledge of the game of golf
- Must have strong irrigation background; repair, maintenance, installation, clocks, pumps, computer central, etc.
- Must have current or be willing to obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicators license within 6 months
- Must have thorough understanding of the game of golf so as to understand the playability of the course
- Must have excellent listening skills
- Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, cold, sun & heat);
- Must be able to stand & walk throughout the day, including on uneven surfaces;
- Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull & carry up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs and very occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance;
- Must be able to have frequent contact with fertilizers & pesticides;
- Must be able to perform simple grasping, squeezing, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently; overhead reaching and fine manipulation occasionally.
