We enjoy a renowned quality of life, with big-city opportunities and small-town neighborhoods.We hope you'll consider joining our talented team.ABOUT THE JOB:You will have the opportunity to review land use applications to achieve compliance with Deschutes County Code and state land use laws, manage the County's addressing program, and conduct research on planning issues to assist citizens and CDD personnel. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. However, the required work hours may include support for approximately three evening meetings (5:00 pm to 9:00 pm) per month.This position is located in Deschutes County and may be eligible for hybrid of in-office/remote work as allowed by policy and approved by the supervisor. Key Responsibilities:
- Apply basic principles, practices and procedures, regulations, and ordinances governing the Deschutes County CDD, including answering inquiries and providing information on planning issues to assist citizens and CDD personnel; duties may vary according to job assignment.
- Review and process planning and permit applications of low to moderate complexity.
- Assign addresses pursuant to Title 16 in coordination with local jurisdictions and fire districts.
Knowledge of or experience with:
- Exceptional communication skills with the public and across various levels of government.
- Principles of record keeping and regional community resources available to citizens.
- County, state, and federal laws, regulations and ordinances governing planning, zoning, code enforcement, building safety, municipal services, urban development, traffic engineering, and transportation planning.
- Performing a variety of technical urban/rural planning functions.
- Understanding and applying complex development regulations, technical standards, review procedures, federal and state rules and regulations, and County policy and procedures.
- Explaining regulations, policies, and procedures related to planning, development, and addressing.
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering, Earth Sciences, Business or Public Administration;
- AND one (1) year of related experience with computers and community development programs;
- OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the job.
