
Staff Mechanical Engineer, Drive Unit

- Empower the team to solve complex component/system level problems using standard problem-solving techniques and Design of Experiments (DoE)
- Enforce Data driven proactive problem solving, root cause analysis & issue avoidance due to process deviations or critical part quality issues
- Establish technical depth to troubleshoot all Drive Unit Product related issues
- Provide design for manufacturability (DFM), design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA) & serviceability feedback in future product development processes
- Responsible for setting up process flow & implementation of assembly drawings covering product specifications relevant to manufacturing
- Responsible for creating a one-team culture to drive product design issues to closure in future/current products with deep collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Advise on build process development and possible improvements for high volume production lines
- Lead product change management to address known product compatibility issues for high volume production or known product design issues in production
- Up to 60% work will be to lead & execute technical work as individual contributor
- BS in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering disciplines with 10+ years of automotive experience in design and release of vehicle attributes.
- MS in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering disciplines with 8+ years of automotive experience in design and release of vehicle attributes
- Experience in product problem solving using industry standard techniques.
- Excellent in data analysis using statistics Minitab or JMP, Python, MATLAB
- Previously participated in prototype builds or launch events.
- Technical depth in Drive Unit System (Stator, Rotor, Gearbox, thermal management, & Dyno test metrics) & associated troubleshooting.
- Experience in product development or improvement of electric drive units & gearbox
- Experience in using DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R, DFM, & RCA with cross-functional teams
- Able to coach & develop talent through technical & administrative challenges
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills are required using Atlassian products.
- Requires proficiency in Catia or 3DX, Stack up analysis (2D & 3D), SQL, Canalyzer
- Travel is required between the factory in Casa Grande, AZ and Engineering HQ in Newark, CA on as needed basis
