- Instructional Planning:
- Collaborate with the Behavior Analyst to identify new goals and short-term objectives for students.
- Assist in writing and developing behavior intervention programs tailored to individual student needs.
- Help design instructional plans that align with the identified goals and objectives.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Observe and communicate student behaviors in the classroom, noting any significant changes or patterns.
- Provide feedback to Head Teachers and instructional staff on the functionality and effectiveness of implemented behavior tactics.
- Offer suggestions for improvements to behavior intervention plans based on classroom observations.
- Work with the Behavior Analyst to make necessary adjustments to intervention strategies and plans.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members.
- Present students with a playful demeanor to build strong rapport
- Crisis-Behavior Support:
- Organize and coordinate the crisis team to respond effectively to behavioral emergencies.
- Provide support during crisis situations, assisting with management and resolution.
- Document and report on crisis incidents, providing insights for future intervention planning.
- Assist in collecting and recording data on student behaviors and intervention outcomes.
- Enter data accurately into designated databases and update data sheets as needed.
- Create and update visual supports and other materials to aid student learning and behavior management.
- Maintain organized documentation of all behavior-related activities and interventions.
- Utilize and maintain School CR LiftED data and instruct others on its use.
- Assist with supervision of students during non-instructional times, such as lunch, recess, and field trips.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Stay informed about best practices and developments in special education.
- Assist with administrative tasks as directed.
- Take photographs and videos of students utilizing school equipment as directed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Behavior Analyst or Assistant Principal.
- Must be able to support and de-escalate students under your supervision utilizing approved school methods with minimal supervision. Training will be provided.
- Must be able to lift, carry and hold students safely utilizing approved methods as directed by the school. Training will be provided.
- Must also be able to maneuver around, lift and set-up student furniture, i.e., tables and chairs as well as school equipment (up to 35 lbs).
- Must be able to maintain visual and auditory supervision of students at all times.
- Must be able to accompany students to various parts of the school, activities, fire drills..
- Must have physical stamina and flexibility (walking, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, running, stretching, reaching, standing, sitting on the floor) for participating in students' activities and speaking with them at their eye level, playing with them and to clean up toys and equipment from the floor.
- Must have knowledge of First Aid/CPR or be willing to get certified.
- Must be able to communicate with students, parents and staff using clear, understandable language in both verbal and written form.
- Must have prior crisis training (Safety-Care or Crisis Prevention Intervention) and experience in safely deescalating physical and verbal escalations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis or related field.
- At least 2 years of professional experience as a behavior analyst/interventionist in Special Education (preschool or elementary school preferred).
- Demonstrates ability to seek supervision and use it constructively.
- Must have tact, discretion, confidentiality, good judgment and common sense.
- Demonstrates ability to work independently, self-motivate, and be resourceful.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and positively with peers and coworkers.
- Ability to work occasional evening hours for special events.
