- Ensures suppliers meet Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development guidelines. Includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence. SQEs have various levels of differentiation which are related to level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage vendors.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Will lead projects with low/high risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
- Jobs at this level function with some autonomy but are subject to functional practices and precedents or are covered by well-defined policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work for both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development.
- Lead supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting assigned suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence.
- SQEs have various levels of differentiation which are related to level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage vendors.
- Track metrics & works quality improvement plans to address problem areas
- Review and approve quality plans, investigate quality escapes to provide root cause analysis and ensure effective corrective actions are taken
- Mentor suppliers in the application of quality tools & requirements
- Ensure compliance, and drive improvement plans where needed
- Review documentation and witness supplier practices to determine if sound manufacturing and inspection principles are in place
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a quality to execute policy. Basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
- Uses judgment and has the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated, day-to-day problems.
- Has ability to prioritize information for data analysis. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions
- Travel between 20-25%
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Welding, Machining) from an accredited university or college
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in Quality, Manufacturing, Shop Operations, Supply Chain, Materials, Sourcing, other applicable areas
- GE Leadership Program Graduate in lieu of experience
- Past experience in Machining or Welding processes and product
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Established project management skills.
- Background in supplier quality and supplier management
- Experience managing quality or manufacturing teams
