Working shoulder-to-shoulder with General Managers, this role oversees all operational aspects of new site openings through the critical ramp period, ensuring facilities, staffing, training, and customer experience meet Emler’s high standards. The Director plays a key role in hiring and developing new teams, driving enrollment and early business growth, and coordinating cross-functional efforts across departments. In addition to new site launches, this Director supports company-wide operational initiatives and assists with acquisitions, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment with Emler’s culture and standards. This role requires a strong, hands-on team player to unite multiple functions, inspire new teams, and deliver consistent excellence from day one.
  • Partner with General Managers in hiring, onboarding, and developing new teachers and staff, ensuring teams are trained to deliver Emler’s curriculum with excellence.
  • Provide hands-on training and mentorship, working side-by-side with staff to reinforce teaching quality, customer engagement, and operational consistency.
  • Develop training schedules, resources, and feedback systems that equip new teams with the tools needed for success.
  • Model and instill Emler’s culture of accountability, teamwork, and child-focused care.
  • Assist the executive team and operational leadership in executing outreach strategies and community engagement activities that drive awareness and customer acquisition.
  • Monitor early business performance, including enrollment ramp, retention, and customer satisfaction, and work with site leadership to address gaps quickly.
  • Continuously gather lessons learned from launches and develop best practices to improve efficiency, scalability, and consistency.
  • Assist in all operational aspects through the successful launch and ramp of each new school.
  • Partner with General Managers to ensure facilities, staffing, curriculum delivery, and customer experience consistently meet Emler’s operational standards.
  • Training local leaders to successful use and implement all policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate “customer-readiness preparedness” project management for new site openings, maintaining timelines, checklists, and readiness benchmarks across critical areas, to include Facilities, Marketing, and Operations.
  • Conduct pre-opening readiness reviews and to ensure the site and it’s staff and ready to launch up to the Emler standard. (facilities, technology, curriculum, safety standards).
  • Support General Managers during the ramp-up period to ensure early operational performance and student experience targets are achieved.
  • Provide leadership and operational support for the deployment of new company-wide initiatives or process improvements across the network.
  • Assist in the integration of acquisitions, ensuring smooth operational transitions and alignment with Emler’s standards.

A history of meeting goals, including those related to increasing customer growth (enrollment), meeting operational standards, and training others to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Experience with hands-on training and mentoring.
Required Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operational leadership, multi-site management, or school/center openings may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations, site openings, or multi-unit management (hospitality, retail, fitness, or education industries preferred).
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and managing complex project timelines.
  • Proven track record in grassroots marketing, community networking, and enrollment or customer acquisition growth.
  • Experience hiring, training, and developing staff at multiple levels (frontline through leadership).
  • Strong background in executing to brand standards and ensuring operational excellence.
  • Prior experience in child-focused, education, or membership-based businesses is a plus.
Work Environment / Physical DemandsThe Director role requires frequently needing to be able to talk, hear, see, and walk, with frequent commuting required to various worksites. It requires frequent work in a warm humid environment, changing often between standing, moving or being in a swimming pool and occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds. Requires work in a variety of office and conference settings, with some prolonged periods of working on a computer and telephone.Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position, regularly working 40+hours per week in the swim schools and in offices, which includes some work scheduled during evenings and weekends. Emler Swim School operates in every time zone within the U.S. and school and operational leaders may need access to the Director during non-conventional work hours.TravelIncludes overnight travel to operational markets as well as for corporate events.
