- Installs, maintains, repairs, and performs system checks on facility sub-systems
- Operates a variety of tools and equipment
- Performs inspections according to departmental schedule and recommends repairs, upgrades, and/or replacements
- Prepares and maintains records and reports
- May assist with facility projects and purchasing
- Ensures that facilities are adequately maintained to meet users' needs
- May act as lead worker
This position is safety sensitive.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesConsiderable knowledge of:
- State and local building codes and construction standards
- Methods, practices, tools and materials used in various building trades
- Safe working practicesWorking knowledge of:
- Energy management systems (EMS)
- Detention lock hardware and electronicsSkill in:
- Use of tools and equipment appropriate to functional areaAbility to:
- Read and understand plans and specifications
- Respond to emergencies as needed on a 24-hour basis
- Effectively handle lifting of various objects up to 60 pounds
- Work in a Jail environment in close proximity to inmates, that requires extra concern and attention to tool, equipment and personal security
- Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Work in confined spaces
- Prepare and maintain records and reports
- Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
- Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers' service specifications
