Job TypePart-timeDescriptionSt. John LaLande Early Childhood Learning Academy is seeking a dedicated and reliable Early Childhood Aide to join our team. The purpose of this position is to assist the classroom teacher in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled learning environment for young children. The ECLA Teacher's Aide supports the spiritual, physical, and academic development of young children through direct classroom support. This role serves the mission of Catholic education by witnessing Gospel values and helping children experience the love of Christ through daily routines, play, and care. This is a part time position. Primary shift is the evening shift from 2PM-6PM.RequirementsEssential Duties:
  • Coordinate with the teachers to maintain consistent classroom routines and student support.
  • Consult with the ECLA Director and/or teacher regarding classroom schedules, needs, and responsibilities.
  • Provide supervision of students during classroom activities, outdoor play, and meals.
  • Facilitate supportive one-on-one or small group interactions that encourage skill development.
  • Oversee student safety and engagement during free play, learning centers, and transitions.
  • Document in daily logs as needed for licensing or communication with parents.
  • Manage student behavior in a developmentally appropriate, faith-based manner under the direction of the teacher.
  • Support the supervision and monitoring of student behavior in classrooms, hallways, playground, and other school environments to promote a safe, respectful, and orderly atmosphere for all children.
  • Assist with classroom routines including snack, clean-up, and toileting assistance.
  • Communicate positively and professionally with students, families, and staff.
  • Provide relevant information to the teacher and/or director regarding student needs or concerns.
  • Ensure all actions reflect the mission of Catholic education and the dignity of each child.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and professional boundaries.
  • Update classroom charts, student items, and teacher-assigned duties on a regular basis.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance, reporting to work on time and adhering to assigned schedules to ensure the safety, supervision, and continuity of care for all students.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a professional appearance that reflects the dignity and mission of Catholic education, setting a visible standard of excellence and respect for faculty, students, and the wider school community.

Qualifications:
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred, but not required. .
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate's degree or Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred.
  • Experience working with young children in a classroom, daycare, or ministry setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the needs of the classroom.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
