
Composites Engineer in the Shop - Integrated Manufacturing Engineering (IME)

- Gain in depth understanding of the production issues faced in our shops and be the primary source of information to communicate to the cross-functional team responsible for delivering high quality composite hardware, on time to meet customer needs.
- Developing specialized knowledge in the design, performance and production of composite hardware.
- Has awareness of best practices and how their responsibilities integrate with others; Seeking advice from subject matter experts where applicable.
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of expertise and responsibility. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering).
- Must be a US Citizen due to the nature of work being performed.
- Experience in the application of composite materials to Aerospace / Aviation hardware to meet critical design functionality.
- Experience leading and mentoring less experienced engineers.
- Exposure to multiple methods of producing composite hardware using aerospace composite materials
- Understanding of quality processes used to assess and control composite hardware
- Exposure to and familiarity with aviation regulatory agencies (FAA / EASA) and how to interpret and applying certification requirements to the design of composite hardware
- Experience in the development and interpretation of finite element analysis models
- Experience working in a LEAN manufacturing environment and use of data to make informed business decisions
