Pay for this position starts at $40,000 annually.Position Summary:The Onboarding Specialist is responsible for supporting and retaining new volunteers and new troops. The person in this position will orient new volunteers, mentor them over their first two years as a volunteer, and develop resources to assist new volunteers in their work with girls. The Onboarding Specialist works collaboratively with other members of the recruitment team as well as cross-functionally to consistently deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience across our council. In addition, the person in this position oversees our online training platform, gsLearn.Essential Duties:
  • Trains, mentors and manages new adult volunteers to ensure consistent, innovative delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to determine or develop innovative strategies to ensure the effective support of new troop leaders and within Girl Scout communities.
  • Assists in achieving the council’s membership and retention goals for girls
  • Maintains our online training platform, gsLearn, ensuring trainings are updated in a timely fashion.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet the Council’s goals.
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and Experience:
  • A minimum five years’ work experience in progressively responsible positions.
  • Great customer service skills and attitude.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
  • Experience working with and supervising volunteers and/or paid staff.
  • Ability to work with a culturally and racially diverse group.
  • Commitment to the principles of Girl Scouting and willingness to maintain membership in the organization.
Essential Skills:
  • Ability to manage time efficiently, work independently and manage several projects at one time.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual Spanish a Plus
Physical/Mental Essential Requirements:
  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, moderate lifting and carrying (up to thirty (30) pounds).
  • Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Ability to sit at a computer work station for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to focus on detail and accuracy of work product.
  • Work is performed primarily in a non-smoking office environment
  • Travel may expose employee to inclement weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel to various work and meeting locations to meet with volunteers and staff.
  • Dependable transportation is a must.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Occasional high stress may be experienced in dealing with staff and volunteers.
  • A commitment and passion for the Girl Scout Mission and an ability to effectively promote and communicate the Mission and Vision to external and internal stakeholders.
