Currently, the department of Periodontics is seeking two dedicated Dental Hygienist to join their team. If you are ready to expand your skills where each day presents exiting challenges and rewarding opportunities, apply now!Starting hourly rate is $38.06 an hour accompanied with a full benefits package, you may qualify for an advanced starting rated based on your qualifications and experience!For a full job description, please send an e-mail to .Job duties include but are not limited to:· Perform oral prophylaxis for patients by removing plaque, calculus, stains from exposed and unexposed surfaces of teeth by scaling and polishing.· Perform therapeutic periodontal scaling and root planing procedures by removing plaque, calculus from the crown and root surfaces and smoothing of the root surfaces.· Administer local anesthesia.· Apply fluoride to teeth to aid in the prevention of dental caries.· Review and update medical and dental health histories.· Perform oral inspection including oral cancer screening.· Record dental and periodontal findings.· Make digital dental radiographs.· Record present oral conditions and extent of hygiene treatment on electronic dental chart to provide dentist with information for diagnosis and subsequent treatment when needed.· Advise and instruct patients on proper oral hygiene procedures, proper diet for good dental health and the impact of tobacco use on oral health.College of Dentistry – Periodontics (Iowa City, IA)Salary: $47,500.80 - $63,334.40* to commensurate (SEIU Pay Grade: 06)$38.06 per hour*Advanced starting rate may be possible based on qualifications/experience.Schedule: 24 - 32 hours/week to be determined, Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pmMay require occasional overtime.Work Location: On-SiteREQUIRES:· Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Dental Hygiene or equivalent is required.· License to practice dental hygiene in the State of Iowa is required.· Local anesthesia permit issued by the State of Iowa is required.· Hygienists administering nitrous oxide must meet educational criteria in accordance with the rules of the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners.· Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.DESIRABLE:· Proficient working with electronic health records.· Periodontal dental hygiene experience· Experience educating pre-doctoral and post-doctoral dental students regarding the dental hygienist’s role in the dental healthcare team.APPLICATION DETAILS:In order to be considered for an interview, applicants must upload a Resume (and mark as “Relevant File”) to their submission.
