Position SummaryOpen Rank - Lecturer, Physician Assistant Program FacultyThe Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks a full-time faculty member for the Physician Assistant program. This position would include instructional duties (course design, development, teaching, evaluation, and planning), course coordination, test-writing and grading and clinical responsibilities. This person will serve as a problem-based learning facilitator in various blocks as assigned, and also as a student advisor. The new faculty member will actively participate in the ongoing program self-assessment process and carry out other duties as negotiated with and assigned by the Program Director (e.g. Community Outreach Coordination, HRSA grant involvement).Our Vision and Mission: Innovation, Partnership, Education, ResearchOur vision is that the well-being and healthcare of individuals, families and communities in New Mexico will be enhanced through our integration of and advocacy for the principles of Public Health and Family and Community Medicine. Patient Centered CareIn the clinical area, the candidate will be engaged in a primary care, team-based model exploring innovative methodology of health care delivery. We have a growing number of Family Medicine clinics throughout Albuquerque in which faculty practice. These are all moving toward the Patient Centered Medical Home Model and currently many of these clinics are rated the top level, PCMH (level 3).Innovative EducationWe are nationally and internationally known for educational innovation, currently in the area of the integration of medicine and public health. Our faculty are major contributors to the education of medical students at UNM and our residency program creates opportunities for rotations in both rural and underserved settings as well as UNM rotations.
  • We have several Fellowships including Maternal Child Health, Sports Medicine and Addiction Medicine.
  • We boast a large number of residents practicing in New Mexico including those not native to New Mexico.
  • We are home of the UNM Physician Assistant Program.

Salary and lecturer rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Master's Degree
  • Minimum four years clinical experience
  • Eligible to obtain NM state PA license
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Clinical experience in primary care setting
  • Experience teaching MD or PA students in preclinical didactic course(s)
  • Experience teaching/precepting MD or PA students in the clinical setting
  • Experience in writing programmatic reports
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
