Position SummaryRadiologic Sciences Nuclear Medicine Technology Program DirectorSummary:The University of New Mexico Department of Radiology Radiologic Sciences Program is seeking a qualified individual to join our faculty and serve as the Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) Program Director. This position reports to the Radiologic Sciences Director and oversees all functions of the Nuclear Medicine Technology training program. Completion of this program along with its prerequisite courses leads to a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences (BSRS).The Program Director will utilize experience in clinical nuclear medicine and educational methodologies to provide classroom teaching (lecture, online, and laboratory courses) to a diverse student body. The NMT Program Director will provide faculty leadership and provide mentoring and support for the program faculty. The Program Director works with community members in maintaining clinical site affiliation agreements and develops clinical site schedules, participates in clinical site visits, and documents student progress in the clinical setting.In addition to providing instruction and clinical rotation oversight, the NMT Program Director develops and oversees courses and initiatives designed to facilitate the recruitment and academic success of a diverse student body in the program and adheres to and maintains program accreditation through the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT). Faculty are expected to conduct service in support of the department, School of Medicine, university, and profession.Along with the Program Director, the NMT program has one part-time faculty member. The Radiologic Sciences program also includes the Radiologic Sciences Director, two additional full-time faculty members, and one staff member and is actively supported by the Department of Radiology. NMT BSRS students are recruited from University of New Mexico degree-seeking students. Courses are delivered online and in the classroom with clinical rotations at several facilities in the surrounding area.In accordance with JRCNMT accreditation standards, the NMT Program Director must currently have a Masters' degree in any field or must be enrolled in a Masters' program that will be completed within one year. The NMT Program Director must demonstrate effectiveness in program administration and assessment, curriculum design, instruction, student evaluation, and academic advisement. The PD must also demonstrate effectiveness in the supervision and coordination of faculty teaching in the program.Responsibilities include:Didactics:- Utilize appropriate, inclusive, and equitable teaching strategies in nuclear medicine and in the core radiologic sciences curriculum- Develop course objectives/content in collaboration with the Radiologic Sciences program in accordance with the program mission, goals, and national accreditation standards- Responsible for the development of curriculum, administrative duties, program organization, student recruitment, instruction delivery, course evaluation, and program advisement- Actively participate in course and curricular evaluation and developmentClinical Education:- Coordinate the clinical education component of the Nuclear Medicine Program- Coordinate the effective integration of didactic and clinical education- Facilitate clinical education at clinical affiliate sites- Routinely visit clinical sites and meet with Affiliate Educational SupervisorsService:- Actively participate in department, School of Medicine, and/or university committees as needed- Serve in professional organizations (e.g., reviewer, conference organizer, elected office, etc.)- Advise students and maintain student records- Coordinate with the Radiologic Sciences Program Director on Advisory Community meetings- Participate in the departmental admissions and outcome assessment proceduresOther:- Successfully communicate within and outside the department in order to achieve programmatic goals- Function as a team player and collaborate with the Radiologic Sciences team- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with university policies- Continue professional development
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:1. 1. Degree requirement:a. Masters' degree, orb. Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Sciences, Medical Imaging, or related field, and currently enrolled or planning enrollment in a Master's program, with a scheduled completion date within one year of hire.2. 2. Four years of full-time clinical experience in nuclear medicine technology.3. 3. Current NMTCB and/or ARRT (N) certification.4. 4. At least one year of experience teaching in the didactic and/or clinical setting for a nuclear medicine technology program.Preferred Qualifications:1. 1. ARRT (CT) and/or NMTCB (CT) certification.2. 2. Expertise in interpersonal communication skills and in oral and written presentations, as demonstrated by CV/resumes, cover letter, and interview.3. 3. Experience in curriculum design, instructional methodology, educational testing and/or evaluation, or educational psychology.4. 4. Knowledge of physics pertaining to Nuclear Medicine.5. 5. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
