Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Unit Tech performs tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, treatment, transportation, and various clerical tasks.Primary Duties:
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training and coaching new employees. Responsible for the daily census / bed management of 15 patients.
- Directly supervises a designated multidisciplinary clinical team including Registered Nurses, Social Workers (MSW), Unit Techs (NAC) and clerical staff.
- Participates in Performance Improvement (PI) activities. Participates in the review, evaluation, assessment and identification of performance opportunities for the Hospice Services program in preparation for licensure or accreditation surveys.
- Assists in policy and procedure development, review and revision and evaluation of services to ensure compliance with all applicable standards and regulations to include, but not limited to licensure, certifications, JC, OSHA regulations and accepted standards of practice.
- Collaborates with plant operations and security at EvergreenHealth to coordinate building maintenance; including plumbing; electrical; ancillary items; maintenance of fire code requirements; security needs; and generalized grounds oversight.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
- 5 years recent applicable clinical experience.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS - American Heart Association by start date
- An understanding of financial management, budgeting skills, and a commitment to the provision of cost-effective care
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and JC regulations and requirements
- Knowledge of continuous quality improvement, and leadership process knowledge and skills
- Current Washington State Driver's license and proof of insurability
- Effective customer relationship skills, interest and willingness to create and maintain relationships with key customers, particularly physicians and payers
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
- Demonstrate ability to communicate clinical/education knowledge to staff, patients, and families
- Demonstrate or acquire skills to complete nursing skills/competency assessment checklist
- Verbal and written language skills, visual and aural skills in order to communicate and ensure and deliver safe patient care, and to provide a legal record of this care
- (BSN) Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- 2 years of Hospice experience
- 2 years supervisory or lead experience
- Familiarity with McKesson Horizon and Cerner software applications.
- Hospice certification.
