Overview:Internship program dates:Summer Only: May through AugustThis Special Events Intern position plays an integral part in the planning and execution of Melaleuca events. The position assists the Events and Celebration team in the planning of Regional Conferences, annual Convention, the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration and many other events. Some travel may be required. Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of meetings and events.
  • Help with communications around event management including BEOs, timelines, calendars, reports, diagrams.
  • Able to multi-task to coordinate several events at once.
  • Communicate with vendors, hotels and other outside businesses on a regular basis.
  • Negotiates well and can find ways to reduce expenses.
  • Remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Assist team with projects.
  • Support team with onsite event management, set-up and teardown.
Qualifications:Intern will gain and improve upon:
  • General communication skills
  • Understanding and knowledge of executing Event Orders
  • Planning Meetings
  • Logistical Support of Events and Celebration
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven organization
  • Understanding of special events and hospitality industry
Basic Qualifications (Minimum)
  • Preference given to students currently in their junior or senior year of college
  • Able to work in Idaho Falls, Idaho for approximately 90 days during your program dates
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal (including phone work) and written communication skills
  • Basic computer processing skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Interest in Event Planning and/or Hospitality Industry
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong detailed work and organizational skills
  • Creativity skills
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive areas
  • Ability to work under stress
