The Engineer II's purpose is to solve technical problems, develop applicable documentation, and supervise all assigned resources to support the assigned project. The Engineer II assists the Senior Engineers, Engineering Supervisors and Project Engineers in determining the technical requirements of the project, defining resource requirements to achieve schedule and budget commitments, and solving technical issues as they arise within the field of competence.LABOR CATEGORY - ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. - Work independently in solving technical issues
- Plan, estimate, schedule and monitor assigned work and the work of assigned resources
- Track and report progress to budget and schedule commitments
- Supervise assigned resources
- Facilitate communications of issues and solutions throughout MMC
- Prepare, check and issue professional quality deliverables
- Interpret contract requirements
- Develop contract change documents to support the project needs
- May be required to define, track and control subcontractor activities
- Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
- May be required to lead or participate in product improvement projects.
The Engineer II may directly supervise 2 to 8 employees. Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. - Bachelor's Degree (4 Year Degree) in field of competence (or equivalent) or High School Diploma/GED and 13 years of equivalent experience.
- 4 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence.
- Supervisory experience desired.
- Six Sigma or LEAN training desired.
- Must have technological skills (see attachment for specific skills) proven by verifiable and specific work experience, technical publication, or patent issue.
- Must have a working knowledge of standard shipbuilding rules and regulations, as well as the associated regulatory agencies and the review & approval process.
- Must have current computer skills relevant to the field of competence.
- Must have ability to work within schedule and budget restraints.

- Facilitate communication of issues and solutions throughout the Shipyard Detail Design Piping Department and the Shipyard Engineering organization.
- Train, develop and evaluate resources to support department workload
- Plan, direct and coordinate 2D & 3D checking resources and activities within the department
- Estimate, schedule, and monitor assigned work and the work of assigned resources
- Track and report progress to budget and schedule commitments

The Shipyard Pipe Supervisor Checking directly supervises 5 to 10 employees. Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the Shipyard's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The Shipyard Engineering Pipe Checking Supervisor also demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Shipyard.Shipyard Engineering Supervisor Pipe Checker - Skills:
- Personal competencies should include strong time management, complex problem solving, and dispute resolution skills. Additionally the ability to professionally and formally (via written correspondence) communicate is a prime skill.
- The Shipyard Piping Supervisor Checking must have the drive and discipline to monitor, maintain and enforce existing department policies and procedures, as well as develop said procedures as they are required to support new contract project requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, NavisWorks, and ShipConstructor is preferred but experience with other 2D drafting and 3D modeling software will be considered.
- Strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- The Shipyard Piping Supervisor Checking must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor, particularly in time critical or resource challenged scenarios.
