- In conjunction with the Vice President of T&C/Chief Talent Officer, oversees and mitigates legal risk to the organization through proactive training, clear systems, policies and processes for managing conflict effectively.
- Directs and oversees HR team including employee relation's coaching and actions to identify and solve significant people and cultural issues; provides expertise in aspects of employment best practices.
- Manages several business unit human resource functions providing best practices with employee complaints, investigations, and any unjust employee relation matters in a professional and timely manner.
- Directs and oversees the departments diversity & inclusion objectives and recruiting to ensure the initiatives align with strategic goals and that the organization is effectively sourcing and selecting the right candidates that broaden diversity and inclusion within our resources.
- In conjunction with senior leaders, recommends an overall diversity & inclusion communication strategy to enhance recruitment, engagement and staff development strategies.
- Provides leadership in the effective and efficient administration of performance reviews, including the support of preparing for effective and professional feedback, in line with THF Inspiring Leadership principles.
- Maintains current knowledge and application of relevant employment laws that impact the organization including advising leaders on HR-related legal and regulatory matters and ensuring HR programs, practices and policies are aligned.
- Directs KPI and metrics to monitor effective recruiting, performance, employee relations.
- Collaborates with talent culture and communication team to create, modify, and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Supports union negotiations and grievances.
- Ensures proper oversight of employee files/records including their security.
- Supports individuals and teams to adapt to changing institutional priorities.
- Acts as a team player, shares knowledge, ideas, and solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in labor relations or related field. Preference may be given to those with an employment law degree/experience.
- 8 years management in labor relations and human resource experience.
- 5 years' experience managing investigations including critical listening and questioning to understand issues and resolutions.
- Proficiency in various technology including HRIS, AI, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to occasionally work weekends.
- Experience leading and managing employee Diversity & Inclusion initiatives preferred.
- SHRM or SPHR Certification
- Experience leading and managing Diversity & Inclusion teams.
- Proven ability to anticipate and solve practical problems. And ability to lead a professional team.
- Strong people skills, verbal and writing communication skills including proficiency in developing presentations.
- Ability to collaborate, influence with others to achieve outcomes that benefit the institution's mission, vision, and values.
- Outstanding judgement, sensitivity, and high discretion.
- Strong analytical skills in the HR space.
