- Work with machine business division, hydraulic system engineering, and hydraulic strategy groups to identify NPI, NTI, NSI, assurance of supply and cost reduction opportunities for hydraulic valves.
- Oversee project progress and costs; communicate status with stakeholders and participating functional areas through regular gate reviews; addressing and resolving problems.
- Coordinate resources across the enterprise, including component design, detailing, releasing, & checking, hydraulics strategy, component manufacturing facilities, category purchasing, and supply chain.
- Direct project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.
- Play an active role in supplier selection and development of potential suppliers
- Act as gatekeeper, ensuring that all sourcing projects are identified and ready for review by the Hydraulics Sourcing Council
- Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
- Lead end-to-end engineering projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure alignment with project goals and milestones.
- Oversee hydraulics-related projects, ensuring technical and operational requirements are met throughout the lifecycle.
- Supervise and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Conduct regular check-ins, performance analysis, and development planning.
- Resolve team conflicts and promote effective communication across roles and departments.
- Provide leadership on hydraulics-focused initiatives, ensuring team alignment with technical standards and project objectives.
- Maintain deep technical knowledge in core engineering disciplines, including hydraulics systems and components.
- Review and approve technical designs, specifications, and documentation.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies to guide innovation and improvement.
- Provide hands-on support and guidance in solving complex engineering challenges, especially those involving hydraulic systems.
- Build trust and credibility with stakeholders through strong technical insight and clear communication.
- Advocate for engineering solutions—including hydraulics—that align with business objectives and customer needs.
- Lead technical discussions and influence decision-making across departments and project teams.
- Present hydraulics-related concepts and project strategies to non-technical audiences to gain support and drive action.
- Demonstrate strong qualifications in engineering leadership and technical execution.
- Bring deep expertise in Caterpillar hydraulic valve design and manufacturing.
- Apply advanced knowledge of casting, precision machining, 1E specifications, and geometric tolerancing.
- Collaborate with suppliers and SDEs on part development and quality resolution.
- Partner with internal quality teams to address piece part issues.
- Lead cross-functional engineering projects from concept to completion.
- Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Foster a positive, collaborative approach in team and project environments.
